Facial Reconstructive Surgery

Reconstructive surgery involves all types of head and neck surgery following accidents, cancer, other pathologic defects, or significant defects from infection.

Most procedures commonly reconstruct the upper or lower jaw, or jaw joints, to allow for better esthetics and function. Also, many reconstructive procedures can be used to allow for oral rehabilitation to enable a person to wear dentures, or partials, and eat or speak without difficulty.

Much surgery now involves the use of dental implants which are placed in the upper or lower jaws, or in reconstructed jaw segments, for later attachment of dental prosthetics.
